Can you give details of some techniques used in drawing?

Drawing is a special individual skill that you will develop as you move forward in your hobby and your endeavors. At the same time some techniques can help you in assessing the way your drawing abilities develop. So while you will develop your own individual style and techniques, here are some that are commonly used by artists to create their drawings.

Stipling is the process in which you use dotted lines or dashes to indicate implied lines. The manner in which you create these dots or dashes can indicate different form, shapes, depth and contrast. Sometimes you can also use these dots to show shadows and light. Stipling can be used well with line drawing since they match well. Darker tones can be created with a higher concentration of dots in an area and lighter ones can be created if you place the dots and dashes fairly apart.

Doodle drawing is another technique that you should use in order to kick in some creativity. This is like the brain storming session that you have where you do not stop to think about whether your approach is right or wrong. Doodling exercises should be done in a relaxed manner and it is always better to use a pen so that you are not tempted to erase and change what you have done.

Grid drawing is a tool that you will need to use when you start creating pictures that need to be drawn in proportion. This technique is great if you are starting on drawing faces, human bodies and the like. Grid drawing can be used to create pictures of animals and birds too. It is probably one of the best ways in which to copy a picture.
